Biography
Alfred Nordmann is a prominent philosopher of science and technoscience. He is a Professor of Philosophy at Darmstadt Technical University, an Adjunct Professor at the University of South Carolina, and a Guest Professor at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU). His research focuses on the philosophical implications of technoscience, examining how fields like nanotechnology and synthetic biology produce knowledge through control and intervention, and exploring the relationship between art and technology.
Professor Nordmann's distinguished career includes being elected President of the Society for Philosophy and Technology (SPT). He is a prolific author and editor, with key works including Wittgenstein's Tractatus: An Introduction and Technikphilosophie zur Einführung. He serves as the editor of the book series «History and Philosophy of Technoscience» and is the founding co-editor of the journal Technology and Language. He also contributes to the arts as a member of the jury for the International Golden Trezzini Awards for Architecture and Design.
